I live in Canada and has a dog in training. Always wear a jacket when we in public. I also carry a letter from my doctor, who says he is medically necessary. While socializing and training dogs, there are times when to be distracted and "bad behavior", as the bark when they should be provided for all. When this happens, try to save my dog immediately on the spot or withdraw. However, I find it very difficult to train / practice with my service dog, because people know his service dog vest patch that, "says Service Dog ... No business. The adults and children from their pet, a whistle, its bark , and her, it makes my dog and take him to bark or "acting out" for the general public. I'm frustrated to say the least. There were times I cried because I am not able to walk into a store, because the actions of people ruthlessly. Maybe it's just ignorance in turn camp .... I'll try to explain them why you should not touch or distract a service dog, but then the damage is done. My service dog is only 7 months and as a young child should be so focused on me at any time that we work together as a team can stay together. I am sorry that you find a bad experience with dogs. I own a dog unit to ensure that my service dog still carries and maintaining appropriate documentation from my doctor. She is professionally trained to solve my medical problems, but there are times in that allow you to make mistakes, and so I ask everyone to have a little understanding. Just for your information ...... Service Dogs in Canada is not obliged to wear a jacket. It is also "illegal" for each request, the documentation shows that your pet can see a dog "service". I always show my papers to the personal security or the shop owner, because I feel safe to be, they will have no problem leaving a dog in his shop, who are particularly keen at a businessServing food, because they can be occupied or closed with a fine. I hope this has helped to answer your questions. We certainly have to educate the public about "service dogs" and "Do's and Don'ts" when meeting a dog to use. It would certainly help those of us who need every day.

I do not know about Canada to know, but if the dogs are only required to wear a headscarf, as a rule during the socialization phase. The vest must be worn when working the dog. You get tickets for their services, which are placed on the vest. All dogs (and my) service is also an identity that I carry in my pocket as a driver's license. Owners of shops and restaurants can request identification if the dog is concerned.
The vest is mainly that the dog work of its time.

In fact ... In the United States are not obliged to wear a vest ... most do it anyway, because it usually deal with less serious issues.
